Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire were both forced off through injury during Manchester United’s Premier League encounter with Aston Villa on Saturday.
Shaw pulled up with a problem midway through the half and, after attempting to run it off, it became apparent the left-back couldn’t continue and was replaced by Diogo Dalot in the 34th minute, before walking gingerly down the touchline to the dressing room.
And it was a similar story after the interval for skipper Maguire, who went down holding his leg and, after continuing for a few minutes, had to be replaced by Victor Lindelof just after the hour mark.
Both defenders have been ever-present in the league so far for the Reds and their early departure will be a concern for boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of a key week, with Villarreal due to visit Old Trafford in the Champions League on Wednesday.
We'll report any updates provided by Solskjaer in his post-match interviews.
