Revealed: Your Man of the Match v Aston Villa

Manchester United made it 10 Premier League games without defeat, after an exciting 2-1 win over Aston Villa on New Year's Day.

The visitors, who have had a positive start to the campaign themselves and of course beat Liverpool 7-2 earlier in the season, gave as good as they got and briefly pulled level in the second half, with Bertrand Traore slamming home to cancel out Anthony Martial's opener.

But Bruno Fernandes converted a spot-kick awarded for Douglas Luiz's foul on Paul Pogba, and the Reds held out for all three points.

Who was our standout performer, though?

David De Gea was a contender, with the Spaniard making four saves in total, including from Ollie Watkins's goalbound header and Matty Cash's rasping late drive.

Our goalscorers Fernandes and Martial also had good games, combining well with flying wing-backs Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka as United often threatened to run riot - and perhaps we would have done so, had it not been for the stellar efforts of Villa's own standout performer in goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

Paul Pogba was at his brilliant best, embarrassing John McGinn with an unbelievable piece of skill in the build-up to Martial's opener and regularly helping Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men drive forward.

But for Official App users, there was a clear winner in our poll: Eric Bailly.

The Ivorian, who has started four consecutive games for United in all competitions for the first time in three seasons, was ace against Wolves in midweek and once again showed just what he can do, marshalling Watkins well and breaking out from the back and carrying the ball up the pitch.

However, it was his last-ditch block to deny Keinan Davis in injury-time which may have ultimately swung your vote.
