Sam Murray has signed for Carlisle United, after his contract expired at Manchester United.
The full-back was a regular in our Under-21s side last term, making 15 appearances in total, and scoring in the Premier League 2 play-off victory over West Ham United last month.
As he was available on a free transfer, the defender has been snapped up by Carlisle, who were unable to avoid relegation to the National League but are already rated among the favourites to win that division and bounce straight back up.
The Cumbrians are managed by Old Trafford legend Mark Hughes, who was pleased to confirm the signing on the club's official website.
“We're delighted that Sam is joining us,”
said the Welshman. “He's a great young talent who has been at a great club.
”He's a left-sided player, with good pace and good technical ability, and I'm looking forward to working with him.“
Murray has played at Brunton Park in the past, in the EFL Trophy, coming on as a half-time substitute for Tyler Fredricson in a 2-1 win for the Reds. Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho both started the 2022 tie, while Charlie McNeill and Omari Forson scored the goals.
The 20-year-old could make his debut for his new club in the pre-season friendly against Motherwell on 8 July.
Best of luck to Sam for the future, we will be following your progress closely.
