Manchester United winger Antony says he is feeling the benefits of four starts from our last five fixtures, and he hopes to contribute more across the festive season.
Antony and the Reds are currently preparing for Saturday’s Premier League match at West Ham United, before the much-anticipated Boxing Day game against Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
In our interview about his childhood – titled ‘Christmas in the Favelas’ – the 23-year-old begins by discussing his recent form and burgeoning rhythm.
“Firstly, I'm really pleased with this run of games,”says Antony.
“I was training very hard towards this, and it is a consequence of that work at training. I'm really happy with this run and hope to help and contribute to the team even more.”
Asked if work ethic and spirit are important traits to him, Antony continues: “Absolutely, this positive energy is contagious across the whole team.
“I don't like losing, not even in stone, paper, scissors. This is my spirit. I've always been this way and will continue doing it to lift the team up with me and spread this energy.”
The former Ajax man finishes by sharing this personal message to United fans, ahead of the festive period:
“I would like to wish you all a happy Christmas, God bless you and your families.
“Thank you as always for supporting and motivating us every game, regardless of the results. We owe a lot to you, always filling the stadium, thank you!
“Rest assured, we are doing and will do everything to turn things around and put United back where they belong. Merry Christmas.”
