Maya Le Tissier is the new captain of Manchester United Women.
The 22-year-old defender inherits the role from Katie Zelem, who departed the club this summer.
Maya joined United in 2022 from Brighton & Hove Albion and has gone from strength to strength, establishing herself as a trusted member of Marc Skinner's backline - and as a fans' favourite.
She scored twice on her debut, against Reading at Leigh Sports Village in 2022, and has not looked back since.
Maya has contributed hugely in the 2022/23 campaign, forming a formidable partnership with Millie Turner which helped Skinner's side achieve a record 14 clean sheets in the Barclays Women's Super League.
Last season, Le Tissier was jointly voted as the Reds' Players' Player of the Year alongside Ella Toone, picked by their team-mates. Tooney has been selected as our new vice-captain.
Maya said: “It’s an honour to be named captain of this great football club and I will wear the armband with real pride, to help drive this team to success on and off the field.”
We look forward to seeing Maya wearing the armband in the future, and issue many congratulations to her.
You can see Le Tissier and the Reds in action at Old Trafford on 21 September, as we open the WSL season against West Ham - get your tickets now.
