Manchester United Women manager Marc Skinner has given a bullish answer when asked about ongoing negotations regarding Elisabeth Terland's future.
Terland, who joined the club from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2024, has enjoyed an imperious start to the season, scoring nine goals in all competitions so far.
The Norway international is out of contract this summer, with the Reds keen to keep hold of the 24-year-old, as Skinner continues to plan for the future.
Asked about Elisabeth's future ahead of Saturday's upcoming WSL clash with Aston Villa, the United Women boss was clear in his intentions for our no.10.
“I believe they're [contract talks] under way,”began Skinner, when quizzed on Teri's future earlier on Friday.
“I believe the club are putting together the plans and stuff to renew a few players as well. So we're looking at obviously retaining the quality that we've helped to produce, as well as those players taking the opportunity.
“I do believe that is under way. I think it's maybe, hopefully, before Christmas [when] they will engage in conversation and they'll see where they're at.It is under way. She [Terland] has been fantastic this season, as she has been since she's been here. There's a lot of love for Elisabeth here and I hope that we can retain her services and help her build to the target she wants to achieve, as well as we do.“
”
Teri's form in front of goal means she's now up to 21 goals in just 40 games for the Reds, proving her might as a valued member of Skinner's squad.
But it's not only the in-form forward whom United are looking to keep hold of, as reaffirmed by the boss when asked to detail more about current contract negotiations at Carrington.
“Sorry, no,”
he replied, when asked to clear up whether an announcement is imminent regarding Terland. “[I meant] to have been started with the representatives. So the phase was working up to the summer window that we were looking at recruitment in.
”Then you look at during this period here, recruitment in for the winter window, to which we've just welcomed, another head of recruitment for us in Matthew Lee.
“So he's coming in to do that and then during this period, Matt [Johnson] and the team above will be looking at the contracts we want to renew and looking at a plan and structure for those.
”But no, I don't expect it to be done ASAP, the market is going crazy. Agencies and so on, they will come to a point where hopefully we agree, but they'll start soon enough.“
