Rashford reaches huge United landmark

Marcus Rashford has reached 100 career goals for Manchester United in all competitions.

The homegrown forward followed up his effort in the 3-0 victory over Sheriff Tiraspol on Thursday night with another header, which proved to be the winner against West Ham United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The most inviting of crosses by Christian Eriksen was buried by the determined England international, who celebrates his 25th birthday on Monday, and it came in front of Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate, who was in the stands as he ponders his final World Cup squad selection.

Rashford has now scored seven times for the club this season, beating his total of five from his injury-hit last campaign.

He’ll now be looking to go on and approach the figures recorded in 2019/20 and 2020/21, when he scored 22 and 21 times respectively, in his full terms under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

After netting eight times in a whirlwind end to 2015/16 as an 18-year-old, Marcus has also hit double figures in three other seasons (11 in 2016/17, 13 in each of 2017/18 and 2018/19) and brought up his United ton in his 315th appearance for the club.

Marcus can count Leicester City and Liverpool as his favourite opponents, having scored six times against each club.

Probably the most impressive stat, though, is that our no.10 is only the eighth player produced by the club to reach a century of United goals.

100 up for Rashford

Win a signed shirt

A total of 22 Reds have achieved the feat - including Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ruud van Nistelrooy - but only a handful of those came through the ranks at Old Trafford.

Those are: Sir Bobby Charlton (249 goals), Dennis Viollet, George Best (both 179), Ryan Giggs (168), Mark Hughes (163), Paul Scholes (155), Stan Pearson (148) and now Rashford too.

Congratulations on an amazing achievement, Marcus!
