Rashford wins Premier League Goal of the Month

Marcus Rashford has won the Premier League's Goal of the Month award, for his woodwork-rattling effort in March's Manchester derby.

The Wythenshawe-born forward's sixth career goal in the fixture was arguably his best yet in a United shirt, as he struck the ball past Ederson from 25 yards, after great hold-up play by Bruno Fernandes.

Unfortunately, it was not enough to give United derby joy, as City came roaring back in the second half to win 3-1, courtesy of Phil Foden's double and a late Erling Haaland strike.

But Marcus was a worthy recipient of the league's monthly goal prize, claiming it for the first time in his eight-year senior Reds tenure.

Four Goal of the Month winners? That's insane!video

It's the 10th time a Red has come out on top since the prize was introduced in 2016, and Rashford is the eighth different player from United to win.

The 26-year-old has also helped us to set a new record, as we've become the first club to have four separate victors in the same season.

Chelsea, on their way to winning the title in 2016/17, and West Ham, in 2020/21, had both previously managed to have three in one term.

Bruno Fernandes volleyed home Jonny Evans's pass at Burnley in September, for a winning strike the Portuguese has named as his Premier League best for United.

That may have changed after his stunner against Liverpool last Sunday, a goal that will surely be given a nod in April's nominations.

It will take a worldie to shift Alejandro Garnacho's overhead kick at Everton in November from first to second in his all-time list, and the strike that silenced Goodison Park is surely still the overwhelming favourite to win Goal of the Season.

Kobbie Mainoo may have something to say about that, as his maiden top-flight goal settled a 4-3 stormer at Wolves in February.

His curler - reminiscent of Federico Macheda's famous winner to beat Aston Villa in 2009 - against Liverpool at the weekend wasn't bad either, and that may be battling it out with Bruno to give us a third consecutive winner next month.

That feat has never been managed before, with this back-to-back success only the second after Wolves' Jonny and Matheus Nunes were the final two winners in 2022/23.

It may not have been United's most successful season in the division, but we've certainly scored some incredibly memorable goals!
