Manchester United Under-21s lost 2-1 to Leeds United in our first home match of the 2023/24 Premier League 2 season at Old Trafford.
Leeds went ahead after eight minutes, when Sean McGurk was played in behind to go one-on-one against Reds goalkeeper Elyh Harrison, and the visiting frontman side-footed into the bottom right corner.
Luca Thomas won the away side a penalty three minutes later, but Harrison dived low to his right to keep out Sonny Perkins’ effort from 12 yards.
The visitors doubled their advantage within 10 minutes of the half-time restart, when McGurk let Thomas' pass infield run out to Connor Douglas, who in turn placed a first-time finish into the far right corner.
Charlie McNeill pulled one back for United in injury time, with a deflected indirect free-kick, but we then had to seek an equaliser with ten men after Sonny Aljofree was shown a second yellow card.
Leeds held on to their narrow lead to secure a win in M16.
