Manchester United's Under-18s secured progression to the fifth round of this season's FA Youth Cup with a 2-1 extra-time victory against Derby County at Old Trafford.
With the game finishing 0-0 after 90 minutes, Darren Fletcher's side needed an additional 30 minutes to see the job over the line.
An own goal from Luca Crolla got the ball rolling, before Chido Obi added a second for United, shortly after the opener in M16.
Max Nessling scored for the Rams in the second period of extra time, but we hung on to confirm victory in front of 2223 supporters.
FIRST HALF
It was a tense opening for both teams at the Theatre of Dreams, with a midfield battle ensuing early on.
Obi was in the mood, however, from minute one, striking the County post after 17 played, following some strong wing play from Bendito Mantato.
Gabriel was next up, stinging the palms of Derby goalkeeper Cristiano Dzialuk with a fierce effort, before Obi was again denied by the Rams' no.1.
Cameron Bryne-Hughes flew off his line to prevent Remi Harvey as he broke free down the left flank, timing his tackle to perfection.
A good press and tackle from Gabriel then opened another opportunity for Chido, who once more saw his shot beaten away for a corner by Dzialuk.
SECOND HALF
Byrne-Hughes was again called into action with the second half just minutes old. The 18-year-old this time repelling James Ward's advances with a timely sliding challenge.
Marley Mintus then cut inside well to bend an effort goalwards, only for our young goalkeeper to again keep out the visitors forward presses.
James Bailey struck a delicious drive from range that had to be dealt with by Derby's no.1, before substitute Junior Brown also saw his venomous strike rebuffed at close range.
Sean Corry's cross was met by Dantel Hodges as County attempted to win the game late on, with defender Dan Armer stepping in brilliantly with a perfectly-timed challenge.
The final chance of the 90 minutes fell to defender Godwill Kukonki, who was teed up well by Mantato, only for his header to flash just over the bar.
EXTRA TIME - FIRST HALF
Gabriel was still energetic out wide and subsequently causing the Rams problems as extra time began. He set up Brown, with the 17-year-old seeing his effort blocked well by Asher Taylor.
Kukonki did everything right as the game continued to go back and forth. A mazy run into the box left just a one-on-one with Dzialuk, with the Polish shot-stopper standing tall to deny him.
But shortly after, Derby's resistance was final broken. James Overy's in-swinging cross was prodded into his own net by defender Crolla, with Old Trafford jumping to celebrate.
And like London buses, a second soon followed. A long punt forward from Byrne-Hughes resulted in a defensive mix-up, as Obi raced through to dink his shot into the net, doubling our lead in the process.
EXTRA TIME - SECOND HALF
County made the game interesting with 113 minutes played, as Nessling seized upon a long ball forward from the back.
Racing through to round the on-rushing Byrne-Hughes, the teenager nestled his effort into the net, setting up a tense finish at Old Trafford.
Derby had two massive chances to force penalties in the dying moments, with Dantel Hodges first seeing his free-kick sail just over the bar.
And some time later, Nessling perhaps should have done better from close range, curling his late drive wide of the post, as United hung on to progress in the FA Youth Cup.
Next up is Oxford United, with a date and time for that fixture to be confirmed in due course.
