Carrick confirms chat with United hierarchy

Michael Carrick has confirmed he met with the Manchester United ownership group at Carrington this week.

Our head coach, who has taken charge for the rest of the 2025/26 season, said he “shared a few things” with the hierarchy, during a visit to the club's training base on Thursday.

He has also had regular discussions with director of football Jason Wilcox and chief executive officer Omar Berrada, since the appointment.

During a press conference to preview Saturday's derby with Manchester City, Carrick was asked about the nature of any talks that have taken place.

“I’ve spoke to Jason an awful lot and been working closely with him, and Omar as well,“ Carrick said.

”Over the last few days, we've spoken a lot, as you'd imagine.

“The owners, the ownership group, were in and around it, so it was nice to see them and meet them yesterday and have a small chat. They were taking care of business in some ways but we were able to share a few things, and they wished us all the very best.

”It was good to see them.“

The derby with the Blues kicks off at 12:30 GMT, with Old Trafford sure to be rocking for the occasion.

United are currently in seventh spot in the Premier League table, with City second, six points adrift of leaders Arsenal.
