Ole's praise for 'brilliant' McTominay

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was full of praise for Scott McTominay after Saturday's win over Tottenham Hotspur.

The Scotland international put in a solid display in midfield for the Reds as we came away with a 3-0 triumph in north London on Saturday.

In what was McTominay's 10th United appearance of the campaign, a stupendous first-half volley from Cristiano Ronaldo and two clinical finishes from Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford after the break ensured three important Premier League points for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

Although our no.39 was not among the goals at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in United's convincing win, McTominay's performance did impress Ole, as he explained to reporters in his post-match press conference.

“He was Man of the Match. By a mile,” the boss said about the 24-year-old.

“That's the Scott we've seen many times before, you know. He's had his injuries, he's had an operation this season but today I thought he was absolutely brilliant. He won his tackles, drove forward, kept the ball simple, switched play, headed away a few set-plays, so [he was] absolutely top.”

On Saturday, McTominay lined up in a midfield three alongside Fred and Bruno Fernandes, and the Academy product produced some outstanding numbers against Spurs. To name a few impressive statistics, he completed 95 per cent of his passes, four tackles as well as three dribbles and long balls, indicating a stellar all-round performance.
