“These will be fantastic days in Manchester,” said Ole this month.

“Of course, we do really respect them and, as I said after the derby last time, in my opinion they are the best team in England.

“They can out-football you so we need to get our game heads on and be ready for them again. But we’ve shown them that we can cause them problems. I think they will be two fantastic games.”

WHAT HAPPENED LAST TIME?

At the beginning of December, Ole’s Reds travelled across Manchester to the Etihad Stadium and produced one of this season’s outstanding performances, recording a 2-1 win over the champions.

The Reds were rampant from the first minute and threatened City’s much-changed defence from the off, utilising our forwards’ great pace and energy.

After a series of near misses from the team, Marcus Rashford broke the deadlock with a nerveless penalty and that advantage was doubled soon after when Anthony Martial beat Ederson with a cool finish.

The Blues eventually pulled one back in the second half, thanks to a towering header from Nicolas Otamendi, but United remained superior and secured a morale-boosting victory in the derby.

JANUARY IS A HUGE MONTH

United are set to contest seven fixtures across all competitions in January and that begins on New Year’s Day with a trip to Arsenal in the Premier League.

Then there is an Emirates FA Cup third-round tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux, followed by the hotly-anticipated Carabao Cup tie against Man City at Old Trafford.

Next up will be Norwich City at home in the top flight, before one of the biggest games of any season – the trip to historic rivals Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League.

Burnley come to Old Trafford before an important month of January comes to a close with the semi-final second leg against the Blues at the Etihad Stadium.

In a poll that was published on Monday morning, we asked users of our Official App to state which fixture they are most excited for and the results were as follows:

47% = Liverpool (a)
25% = Manchester City (h)
16% = Arsenal (a)
4% = Wolverhampton Wanderers (a)
3% = Manchester City (a)
2% = Norwich City (h)
1% = Burnley (h)
