Benjamin Sesko scored Manchester United's 50th goal of the 2025/26 season last week.
With the Reds not in action again until next Monday, we thought it was an excellent opportunity to take stock of the half-century of strikes so far.
Our in-house writers have each proferred their top five, and explained why they've made those particular choices.
As you'll see, some goals come up more than others, and there's a bit of disagreement about who should rank no.1.
But do you agree with the picks? Scroll down to judge for yourself...
ADAM MARSHALL
5. Bruno Fernandes v Bournemouth
4. Matheus Cunha v Arsenal
3. Amad v Nottingham Forest
2. Bryan Mbeumo v Man City
1. Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu v Arsenal
This was a hard call and very much my personal picks. A couple of us said we'd feel like packing it all in if VAR had somehow disallowed Dorgu's screamer at the Emirates Stadium. That was a strike in a million and a good bet for Goal of the Season.
I rank Mbeumo's derby goal so highly because it was so Manchester United, flying towards the Stretford End with the anticipation and excitement building by the second. I was lucky to see Amad's volley in the flesh and that was a bolt out of the blue when desperately needed, while Cunha's beauty at Arsenal was another moment to get you off your feet and jumping around.
As a rare game I watched rather than worked, I had to find a place for Bruno's pinpoint free-kick against Bournemouth. I thought that, once again, showed what a world-class player he is.
SAM CARNEY
5. Mason Mount v Sunderland
4. Mbeumo v Man City
3. Dorgu v Newcastle
2. Dorgu v Arsenal
1. Cunha v Arsenal
I’ve gone with Cunha in north London as my number one – it was the biggest goal of the season so far in terms of securing a standout result, and it was also an absolutely fabulous finish. I probably celebrated that one more than any of the other 49 too!
Dorgu is unlucky to be pipped and places second and I’ve also gone for the Dane in the bronze spot too – I feel like people are sleeping on that strike against Newcastle, because the game was generally a struggle, but that was such a difficult connection to pull off. He hadn't scored for United before that, making it even more impressive.
I feel like long-range screamers grab all the headlines in these types of lists, so I’ve rounded my top five off with a couple of team goals, although they are very different from one another, with Mbeumo's a clinical counter-attack and Mount putting the gloss on a 17-pass move.
MIKEY PARTINGTON
5. Mount v Wolves
4. Mbeumo v Man City
3. Cunha v Arsenal
2. Harry Maguire v Liverpool
1. Dorgu v Arsenal
I didn’t think I’d enjoy a goal more this season than Harry Maguire’s late winner at Anfield, but Dorgu’s belter away to Arsenal is my favourite for the sheer quality of the strike, and the fact it also contributed to a winning effort against one of our rivals. It probably wouldn’t be number one on my list if we didn’t win that game – I have never truly taken to the greatest United goals scored in draws and losses. I still can’t watch Patrice Evra’s pearler at Bayern Munich without a tinge of disappointment at us losing that night!
That probably explains why I’ve gone for Cunha’s winner at the Emirates on this list too, alongside Mbeumo’s Old Trafford opener in the derby – a blistering counter-attacking move that is a proper United goal for me – and Mount’s cushioned volley in our victory at Molineux.
The latter is an outside shout, but I love the way Mount bends his run to beat the offside trap and connect with Bruno Fernandes’s pinpoint cross, before the ball hits the ground. The finish was emphatic – Sam Johnstone didn’t move in goal – and it all but sealed another three points.
MARK FROGGATT
5. Sesko v West Ham
4. Mbeumo v Spurs
3. Cunha v Arsenal
2. Dorgu v Arsenal
1. Mbeumo v Man City
Let’s get one thing straight: my countdown is based on the goal’s quality and not the moment itself, which is why Maguire’s glorious winner at Anfield misses out. We had a similar issue last season with his euphoric header against Lyon, remember, which was undeniably one of the great Old Trafford moments but not our Goal of the Season.
I’ve got three individual efforts on my list – those impeccable finishes by Sesko, Cunha and Dorgu – but I’m a sucker for a team goal. The clever corner routine against Spurs ranks well, yet the top spot goes to that lightning-fast counter in the derby.
For me, that was Manchester United summed up in 13 seconds of devastatingly ruthless attacking football, with total harmony between those on the pitch and in the stands. Pure cinema of the highest order. We should start engraving the award now…
