Manchester United Women are “buzzing”
to be heading back to Old Trafford, according to captain Maya Le Tissier.
The defender was appearing on a Q&A session, hosted live on the Manchester United Women YouTube channel by presenter Zarah Connolly, along with fellow teammates Phallon Tullis-Joyce and Jess Park.
Supporters had the opportunity to submit their questions live to the panel of Reds, provoking some interesting responses from the trio – which you can watch in full below.
But as the stream landed just ahead of our upcoming UEFA Women's Champions League game against Paris Saint-Germain, to be held at Old Trafford next week, the event was a key topic of discussion.
“Very excited,”
Tullis-Joyce replied when asked how she was feeling about the occasion. “Nice to be at Old Trafford also.
”It's always a great atmosphere, nice to have our supporters there.“
Park added: ”It'll be my first game at Old Trafford in red!“
The United winger appeared at the Theatre of Dreams in May, but for Manchester City, ahead of her summer transfer across Manchester.
That WSL meeting with City was the last time Marc Skinner's side played at Old Trafford, and it evokes good memories for the team, being the game that ensured we had Champions League football this season.
“I did really love the Champions League qualifying-securing match against City,”
Tullis-Joyce revealed when asked for her favourite-ever game.
“The actual pure emotion of that match, to know after a full season-long route, that it really mattered to something.
”It was leading us to this moment here that we have, enjoying the Champions League. It was really special.“
It is of little surprise, therefore, that the goalkeeper is excited to be back at Old Trafford again next week, this time against Les Parisiennes in a continental clash – for which tickets are still available.
“Yeah, it's amazing,”
she said. “The actual roar of the crowd is definitely thrilling.
”It's just every single time at Old Trafford, we just have such a great time.“
Captain Le Tissier agrees with the sentiment, hoping that the side can create more history in M16.
“Yeah I agree,”
the England international said in response to her American colleague. “Just even walking out from the corner.
”I feel like just being in such an historic stadium as well, you know, there's been so many amazing games that have happened there before.
“Hopefully we can bring our energy to the stadium and show the fans how much it means to us to play Champions League at Old Trafford.”
