Preview: United Women v Liverpool

Manchester United Women face a much-anticipated clash on Sunday, taking on arch-rivals Liverpool.

The Barclays Women's Super League fixture pits fourth-placed United against the bottom side in the table, with Marc Skinner's team only two points adrift of Chelsea in second.

On the back of the win at Aston Villa last time out, the Reds will be keen to continue our momentum, at the start of a month that features two UEFA Champions League ties against Atletico Madrid.

Here's what you need to know in advance of kick-off...

TEAM NEWS

Lisa Naalsund was praised by Skinner after coming off the bench to good effect against Aston Villa, and could be in contention to start.

Leah Galton, Gabby George and Ella Toone are yet to play in 2026 due to injury, while Fridolina Rolfo has missed our last three matches but did train ahead of the win over Villa.

Marc could provide further fitness updates in his pre-match press conference, at Carrington on Friday morning.

OPPOSITION WATCH

Liverpool may be at the foot of the table but they won their first game of the 2025/26 WSL campaign last time out.

Two late goals accounted for Tottenham Hotspur, with Mia Enderby scoring both, to leave Gareth Taylor's side only a point adrift of West Ham United and Everton.

The visitors will be buoyed by the three points, after such a long wait this term, but we won the reverse fixture at St Helens in September. Hinata Miyazawa and Ella Toone scored in a 2-0 triumph.

FAN INFORMATION

Sunday's game is United Women's closest home match to the 68th anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster.

To preserve the memories of those we lost or never played again, our players will wear black armbands, both teams will lay a wreath ahead of kick-off and large memorial flags will adorn the North Stand. We are encouraging supporters to arrive early to pay their respects.

From two hours prior to kick-off until 15 minutes before the first whistle, fans can join our Manchester United Foundation coaches and show off football skills on the MUGA pitch, located at Leigh Sports Hub, behind The Whistling Wren. It’s free to play, but we do advise wearing suitable clothing and footwear.

The Legends Bar at the front of the stadium will also be open for food and drink from 09:30 GMT, while the fixture is part of the WSL Football Fan Choice Pilot, meaning supporters in attendance have the option to drink alcohol in view of the pitch.
