Rangnick: Our New Year's resolution

Ralf Rangnick says he is not looking too far ahead as we enter 2022 and is simply looking to continue to help this Manchester United team develop step by step.

Our interim boss insists he and his coaching staff are simply focusing on the short term currently, with an aim to see his players continue to progress each and every day.

The German was speaking to club media after our year-ending victory over Burnley on Thursday which ensured the Reds remain unbeaten in his reign at Old Trafford after five matches

As is the tradition at this point in the calendar, Ralf was asked about New Year’s resolutions and what they could be for himself and United.

'We met the demands of energy and physicality'video

“Just keep developing the team,”
the 63-year-old explained.

“This is my job and it’s not so much thinking about the end of the season, nobody can foresee that.

“We can look into the crystal ball, but we will not get the answers. For us, it’s about taking the next steps and developing this group of players.”
An undefeated start to life at United for Rangnick has come despite the interruption of a COVID outbreak at the club and the postponement of two fixtures in mid-December.

The disruptions were an added challenge for the club to overcome in recent weeks, but Ralf is satisfied with what he has seen from his new team nonetheless, given the circumstances.

Rangnick considers attacking options for Wolves

“I think we have taken some steps already, bearing in my mind we have not had much time to train.

“So far, I see that the players are willing to learn, to take the next steps and this for me is the most important part for the upcoming weeks and months.”
