Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has revealed that Kobbie Mainoo is out of action due to a calf problem.
The Academy product was an option to come into the side for the game at Aston Villa, with Casemiro suspended, but sustained the injury in training on Saturday.
“He got an injury in the last training,”
the boss told Sky Sports. “After training, he went to the doctor. He got something in his calf.
”We are going to assess but he is out of this game.
“Of course [it is bad timing], not just for the team but for him to have this problem. These are reminders that we need to focus on everything we can control and leave the rest to the destiny.
”He is going to be fine in the few weeks, I think, I don't know. Let's focus on the players that we have and are ready to play.“
Manuel Ugarte comes in for Casemiro, lining up in midfield alongside skipper Bruno Fernandes.
It is the Uruguay international's first start since the defeat at Brentford in September.
There is plenty of youth on the bench, including Bendito Mantato, who is in a matchday squad at this level for the first time.
“They need to be they [ready],”
Amorim told MUTV about the youngsters in the squad.
“They are working a lot of days with the first team. Of course, it's not easy, especially in this kind of game, but they are ready if we need them.”
