Amorim issues transfer warning before FCSB clash

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has reiterated the difficulty of doing deals in the winter transfer window and expressed the importance of not rushing into moves.

United are naturally being linked with incoming and outgoing activity as the mid-season market approaches Monday’s 23:00 GMT deadline, but Amorim has reminded reporters of the challenges that come with a club making transactions in the midst of a campaign.

Speaking at this evening’s pre-match press conference ahead of Thursday’s game against FCSB, the boss said to the assembled journalists at the National Arena in Romania:
“This window is always really, really difficult and we don't want to make the mistakes of the past.

“We have to also understand the situation of the club. A lot of things are changing so we have to be careful in this type of window.

“You guys know the situation of the club at the moment, so it's nothing new.”
The boss meanwhile restated his intention to work with the squad of players he currently has, with the goal to continue building on the work done since his arrival back in November.

Victory in tomorrow evening’s Europa League game would help towards that, with a win able to secure automatic progression to the competition’s last-16 stage, avoiding February’s two-legged knockout play-offs and ensuring more time on the training pitch as a result.

“Our focus is to work with the players that we have,”
Amorim added, as the Reds eye a third win in a row on Thursday, following recent victories over Rangers and Fulham.

“I think it is clear we can improve as a team, all of us, if we have time to train and if we put some wins together. So, it will be so much easier.

“We had so many games compared to training, that is how, for me, it is the biggest problem to start [my job] in the middle of a season, especially, in that moment, with a lot of games.”
