Ruben Amorim is hopeful that Diogo Dalot and Matthijs de Ligt will both be available for Manchester United's Premier League game at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Dalot appeared to signal to the bench that he needed replacing after opening the scoring against West Ham United, with his first league goal at Old Trafford.
It raised concerns he may be a doubt for Monday night at Molineux, while Matthijs de Ligt was not in the matchday squad after picking up an injury.
The boss did declare before kick-off against the Hammers that he expected the Netherlands centre-back to return for our next fixture.
“I think so,”
he replied to journalists, when asked if the pair will be okay for Wolves. “We'll see.”
The boss was asked about Kobbie Mainoo's situation again, after the midfielder was not brought on against West Ham and whether that may be a little demoralising for the Academy graduate.
“I see it,” he replied. “I see it and I just want to win. I try to put the players. I don't look who it is. I don't care about that. I'm just trying to put the best players on the pitch.
”You have [Manuel] Ugarte that played two games. One of them, Case [Casemiro] was out. Bruno [Fernandes] is always fit [and] is the guy that is doing his position. So maybe it has to do with that.“
Amorim was also asked about Shea Lacey, who has been an unused substitute on three occasions but is still awaiting his senior bow.
“Sometimes, when Bryan [Mbeumo] is not there, I put Amad [there] because I have other wing-backs to play and sometimes it’s hard,”
he explained. “So you are asking me, why I don't put Lacey to play, when I have other guys that are internationals and also they are on the bench?
”So I try to put the best guys, the prepared guys for this moment of the club, and try to win a game. That's the only thing, guys.“
Harry Maguire and Benjamin Sesko are likely to still be absent.
