Sir Alex's message to Chicharito is everything

Sir Alex Ferguson has recorded a heartfelt message of congratulations for Javier Hernandez, after his former Manchester United player completed a romantic transfer back to Chivas.

Chicharito has returned to his hometown club in Mexico following a four-season spell with LA Galaxy, and the 35-year-old is determined to help them out in the only way he knows – by scoring goals.

The ‘Little Pea’ is feeling fit again following a recent ACL injury and he is excited to write another chapter in a remarkable football story that began with Chivas, as a product of their youth system.

Of course, his performances in Guadalajara attracted the attention of United’s former chief scout Jim Lawlor and indeed Sir Alex, who commissioned a transfer in April 2010. It proved to be shrewd business as the fleet-footed striker went on to score 59 goals and win two Premier League titles.

Hernandez scored the final goal of Sir Alex’s managerial career in the dramatic 5-5 draw at West Bromwich Albion, and the pair have maintained a strong relationship in the years since.

In a video released by Chivas across social media, our former manager relays a very special message to his former player.
“Chicharito, it's your old boss here,”
he begins.

“First of all, I want to congratulate you on your return to your old club, back in Mexico where it all started, where I found you, signed you and you were a fantastic player for us.

“You've had a great career and I think now you're going back to your old club, you've an opportunity to add your experience and give your experience to all of the players there.

“So, regards to your family, have a great time and more goals to come. All the best.”

AN UNBREAKABLE BOND

In his UTD Podcast, Chicharito opened up about his relationship with Sir Alex and explained how the manager’s treatment of his family upon signing made a lasting impression.

“It was great, it was amazing and then, when I arrived for the presentation, he wanted to have dinner with myself and my family,”
said Javier.

“The way he presented himself and the way he treated you like a human. The way he treated my family. For me, it was like, 'yeah, I will kill myself on the pitch for this manager, for sure'. For sure!

“If he treats my family that way, man, I will vomit after every game if it helps him to achieve in games and championships. He was an amazing man. It’s hard to believe.”
