The club’s official magazine reaches a landmark today with the release of the 400th edition in its long history.
The four-century milestone comes up almost 33 years since the very first issue came out in the winter of 1992.
To mark the occasion, number 400 is a special collector’s edition celebrating the magazine’s heritage.
A fiesta of vintage material begins on the front cover with a mosaic made up of all 400 of the previous front covers, giving a kaleidoscopic impression of this club’s extraordinary history in the last three decades.
Then inside the extended issue there is lots to dive into.
The mag salutes some of the club giants whose voices have been amplified in its pages down the years – Sir Alex Ferguson and George Best chief among them, both true legends having been previous star columnists – and also revisits some favourite formats and treatments.
There are inside stories, too, from staff members who worked on the magazine over the years, rubbing shoulders with their United heroes.
And talking of heroes, the magazine digs out original interviews with some of the greatest names in United’s modern history, players who moved mountains in the Red shirt and built gilded Old Trafford legacies. Eric Cantona, David Beckham, Roy Keane, Paul Scholes, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney are all included.
As well as being a milestone edition in the sense of reaching 400, it is also a pivotal issue in that it signals a transition in the magazine’s frequency from monthly to quarterly.
After this celebration edition, the magazine will relaunch in a new style and format, and thereafter be out four times per year.
The special collector’s edition of Inside United is on sale now in shops and newsagents, can be bought at Old Trafford during home matches, and is available to buy online here.
