Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia has described the feeling of playing for his new club for the first time as “amazing”
.
While the 22-year-old still has to wait for his competitive debut, he was delighted to pull on the United shirt on our opening pre-season friendly.
Speaking with MUTV’s Mark Sullivan and United legend Andy Cole shortly after the full-time whistle at the Rajamangala Stadium, Malacia conveyed his joy to represent his new club.
“I’m very happy,”he said with a trademark smile.
“It feels amazing to be here, to wear this shirt and play with these people.
“It was difficult because of the weather, it’s very hot, but we made it.”
Malacia is now looking forward to continuing our pre-season preparations as the squad travels to Australia, with Melbourne Victory next up at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday.
That’s the first of three remaining games on Tour 2022, before two further friendlies precede our Premier League opener on Sunday 7 August.
The young Dutchman spoke of his excitement for the season with his new team-mates and the potential of playing in the Premier League.
“Of course. It’s a dream for me to play there [the Premier League] and now I’m here,”
he explained.
“[I hope to add] some good defensive [work], hope to get some assists and get some energy to the team.”
