Bruno Fernandes has reached 100 assists in a Manchester United shirt.
Our Portuguse magnifico set up goals for Casemiro and Matheus Cunha during our 3-1 win over Aston Villa, his 319th appearance for the club.
It's been a landmark season for Bruno, as he notched his 100th United goal earlier in the campaign.
We've already delved into the numbers behind that achievement, but what about the story of his creative handiwork?
Here's how Fernandes made it to triple figures...
HIS BEST SEASON YET?
It didn’t take long for our new midfielder to unleash his magic in Manchester, following his January 2020 move from Sporting Club. Bruno’s first assist came in just his second game, as his corner was powered home by Harry Maguire in a memorable win at Chelsea. He set up his team-mates a further seven times before the end of that pandemic-prolonged season, but has managed double figures in each of the six following terms.
His personal high is the 18 of 2020/21 and 2024/25 but that could soon be consigned to history. Fernandes has notched 17 assists already this year, despite only appearing in 29 games, and this total includes a remarkable 16 in the Premier League, as he’s overtaken the previous club-record landmark set by David Beckham at the turn of the century.
2020/21 – 18
2024/25 – 18
2025/26 – 17
2021/22 – 13
2022/23 – 13
2023/24 – 13
2019/20 – 8
LEAGUE HIS BREAD AND BUTTER
With 222 of his 319 appearances coming in England’s top-flight, it is perhaps unsurprising that the Premier League accounts for 67 of Bruno’s 100 assists. Our no.8 is currently hunting down the division’s all-time record for most in a season, 20, which is jointly held by Thierry Henry (2002/03) and Kevin De Bruyne (2019/20).
He still has a way to go before thinking about Ryan Giggs’s cumulative mark, though. The Welsh wing wizard laid on 162 goals for team-mates between 1992 and 2014, which is 43 more than nearest challenger, De Bruyne.
Premier League – 67
Europa League – 12
Champions League – 9
FA Cup – 7
League Cup – 4
Community Shield – 1
RASHFORD LEADS THE WAY
Bruno has assisted 30 separate players in his run to 100, with Marcus Rashford benefiting 16 times. Casemiro is quickly closing that gap, though – the former Real Madrid man has scored five goals from Fernandes assists this season alone, and nine times in total. No other Premier League combo has managed that in 2025/26.
Marcus Rashford – 16
Casemiro – 9
Anthony Martial – 7
Alejandro Garnacho – 6
AROUND THE GROUNDS
While a majority of Bruno’s assists have come at Old Trafford, there’s actually a healthy split between home and away grounds, and the skipper has at least one assist at 15 of the 18 other current Premier League venues he’s played at, before his first trip to Sunderland's Stadium of Light in May.
The Vitality Stadium, Hill Dickinson Stadium and Craven Cottage are those missing from the list, in case you were wondering. Fernandes assisted in three consecutive visits to Wembley under Erik ten Hag in 2024 – the FA Cup semi-final, final and Community Shield.
Home – 53
Away – 44
Neutral – 3
WHO'S IN CHARGE?
Seven different men have occupied the dugout during Bruno’s spell and each have seen at least a couple of goals set up by the Portugal midfielder - even caretakers Darren Fletcher and Ruud van Nistelrooy, who were in post for two and four fixtures respectively.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer just pips Ten Hag at the top of the tree, but Michael Carrick is rapidly gaining on Ruben Amorim in third place. Fernandes has been on a real hot streak under our current head coach, setting up nine goals in nine games as we’ve boosted our chances of European qualification.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – 33
Erik ten Hag – 31
Ruben Amorim – 18
Michael Carrick – 9
Ralf Rangnick – 5
Ruud van Nistelrooy – 2
Darren Fletcher – 2
