Was Sesko's sprint our fastest this season?

Benjamin Sesko went through the gears to power up the field and score the only goal of the game at Everton.

The substitute made a telling contribution again, off the bench, by converting Bryan Mbeumo's pass but, while it may have looked relatively straightforward on first viewing, closer evidence showed just how much the Slovenia international bust a gut to get into a goalscoring position.

Our no.30 was actually behind Toffees centre-back James Tarkowski when Matheus Cunha managed to find enough space to sweep the ball wide towards Mbeumo but showed the acceleration required to leave him in a one-on-one situation with England's Jordan Pickford.

Renowned statisticians Opta have access to the data that measures speed on the pitch and we were interested to see where Sesko's sprint ranks in terms of the entire season.

Well, it was logged as being quicker than his previous best, a run in the Boxing Day victory over Newcastle United, but was not enough to topple the current leader in this field.

Mbeumo, who supplied the assist at Hill Dickinson Stadium, clocked a speed one kilometre-per-hour faster than his team-mate, during our first away game of the campaign, at Fulham on 24 August.

Amad (against Tottenham Hotspur recently) and Diogo Dalot (during the famous win at Liverpool) also registered runs that feature highly, in terms of our overall list.
