Where will Rashford play on Sunday?

Erik ten Hag has been asked about Marcus Rashford's position, following the forward's 20th goal of the season in the 2-2 draw with Leeds United.

The England star can play anywhere across the front line and started on the right, with Alejandro Garnacho introduced on the left, in the absence of Antony due to injury.

Marcus switched to the left at the start of the second half and ended up down the middle when Jadon Sancho and Facundo Pellistri came on as substitutes to take on wing roles.

With the 25-year-old in outstanding form, he was an obvious choice of topic following the game.

Poll: Which position do you think Marcus Rashford will play in at Leeds on Sunday?

Ten Hag did not agree with a suggestion that Rashford is not as effective when on the right, stating: “Against Burnley, he scored from the right. Great goals. Marcus can score from anywhere, it doesn’t matter if it is in the right, the centre or the left. He is scoring everywhere and, today, he scored again.

When it comes to our no.10 going down the middle, Erik added: ”It’s difficult to analyse but I think after we made that change it’s different for the opponent, it’s difficult for the opponent, because the dynamic changed. The defenders are in a certain way.

“They are anticipating on a certain attack then all of a sudden everything is changing, where we moved not only Rashford but we brought in [Jadon] Sancho and we brought in [Facundo] Pellistri. That changes the game as we did Saturday as well then he takes benefit from that situation, I think.”

The manager was asked if Rashford will start down the middle at Elland Road and replied: “First off, this game, we analyse it, we will reflect on this game. Then we will see how the team is and then we will start our efforts.

“I'm very pleased Marcus is scoring from all the positions. You see his stats, he's scoring from the left, right, middle. It doesn't matter. He's always a good option to play on the right. We can move him around and give a different dynamic in a game.”

Rashford will be determined to find the net again in West Yorkshire, with the Reds now three points ahead of Newcastle United, in third place in the Premier League table.

However, our Carabao Cup final opponents have a game in hand so it is all to play for in the battle for a top-four spot.
