Who was Man of the Match v Bournemouth?

Manchester United had to settle for a point in an epic encounter with Bournemouth in our final home game before Christmas.

Amad opened the scoring and, after Antoine Semenyo levelled, Casemiro’s header ensured the Reds went into the break with a deserved lead.

Two goals in the opening seven minutes of the second half from Evanilson and Marcus Tavernier saw the pendulum swing in favour of the Cherries.

But Ruben Amorim’s side roared back with two goals in as many minutes, courtesy of a stunning Bruno Fernandes free-kick and a second United goal for Matheus Cunha.

The visitors, however, grabbed an 84th-minute equaliser through substitute Junior Kroupi to ensure the spoils were shared at Old Trafford on Monday night, much to United’s frustration.

But amid the chaos, which Red stood out the most? Here’s who you, the fans, voted as your Man of the Match...

Poll: Who was United's Man of the Match against Bournemouth?

In our post-match poll in the United App and on ManUtd.com, the overall winner was Fernandes with 40 per cent of the vote.

Our captain produced two notable contributions in the eight-goal thriller, providing the corner from which Casemiro nodded home at the back post in first-half stoppage-time before curling home the sublime free-kick which made it 3-3 in the second period.

Only Erling Haaland (20) has been involved in more Premier League goals this season than the Portuguese, who has five goals and seven assists to his name. Indeed, our no.8 has now both scored and assisted in successive games in the competition for the first time since December 2020.

He has secured our star-man award in back-to-back games, having also done so in last week’s 4-1 success against Wolves at Molineux.

Meanwhile, Cunha came second with 27 per cent of the votes cast after an eye-catching display, in which he attempted eight shots - the highest total for a United player in the Premier League this season - and netted the goal which put us 4-3 ahead in the 79th minute.

Third in the poll with 14 per cent was Senne Lammens, who was praised by both managers following the game after the Belgian stopper made two huge saves to deny Bournemouth substitute David Brooks in stoppage-time.

Congratulations once again to Bruno and thank you to everyone who took the time to vote.
