Who was our Man of the Match against Athletic Club?

Facundo Pellistri left it late at the Aviva Stadium, as the Reds drew 1-1 with Athletic Club in our final pre-season outing of summer 2023.

A whopping 50,238 supporters watched in Ireland, as Erik ten Hag's side performed well across the 90 minutes, in what was another entertaining and competitive warm-up encounter.

Nico Williams's first-half strike had given the Basque side the lead after a defensive mix-up at the back for United, but the Reds battled well and got our reward thanks to Facundo's 93rd-minute leveller.

With plenty of positive performances across the board, fans have since been voting for who they feel warranted the Man of the Match accolade.

Alvaro Fernandez was impressive at left-back and had quite the job in keeping Williams quiet before his withdrawal at half-time. The former Preston loanee has stepped up to the plate when called upon in pre-season and navigated his forward responsibilities well too.

Jadon Sancho's trickery and clever link-up play with Donny van de Beek in the first half caused Athletic Club problems early on, with the United no.25 unlucky not to open the scoring after just three minutes, after Unai Simon made a smart stop with his feet.

Dan Gore was partnered with Christian Eriksen in the heart of our midfield and also put on a strong showing, anchoring between both the defence and attack impressively, while occupying some tidy space to help keep the Reds moving swiftly.

Hannibal was introduced as a second-half substitute in Dublin and was a livewire after the break. He also played an important part in the move which saw Athletic Club's Aitor Paredes given his marching orders, leaving the Reds 25 minutes to go at the 10-men La Liga outfit.

However, there was one runaway winner for those who cast their nominations over on ManUtd.com and in the United App, with that man collecting nearly three-quarters of the votes...

Poll: Who will you pick as our Man of the Match following the pre-season meeting with Athletic Club?

Pellistri was our standout winner, scooping up a whopping 73 per cent after his decisive strike in added time ensured the spoils were shared over in the Irish capital.

After latching on to Harry Maguire's knock down inside the area, Facundo took all the time he needed to smash home the equaliser, sparking wild scenes inside the predominantly United-supporting Aviva Stadium.

The 21-year-old was subsequently mobbed by his team-mates and was brilliant throughout the encounter as a whole as he slotted back in on the right side of attack, after a few appearances down the left.

His electric pace and superb trickery caused the Bilbao side's defence numerous problems, drawing fouls aplenty to help the Reds gain momentum throughout.

We hope to see much more of the Uruguayan's skillset across the upcoming season, as Ten Hag's side once again prepare to do battle on four separate fronts.

Congratulations to Facundo on claiming the award!
