Who was our Man of the Match against Charlton?

Manchester United progressed to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup with a 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic at Old Trafford.

Antony opened the scoring with a beautifully curled left-footed effort in the first half, before Marcus Rashford came off the bench to grab a brace late on, sealing United’s place in the final four.

From competitive first-team debuts for Kobbie Mainoo and Facundo Pellistri, to Lisandro Martinez’s first start since his 2022 World Cup triumph, plenty of Reds played their part in the win over Charlton.

But who claimed our Man of the Match crown against the Addicks?

The overwhelming winner of our fan poll was Rashford, who scored in yet another fixture at Old Trafford.

Marcus replaced Antony on the hour-mark, and immediately occupied the central striker position, with Anthony Elanga moving to the right-wing.

And as has been the case for most of this season so far, he was in devastating mood, scoring twice in the dying moments.

Fellow substitute Pellistri found Rashford inside the box, and the striker poked home to make at 2-0. Minutes later, Marcus raced onto a brilliant Casemiro pass before stroking the ball beyond Ashley Maynard-Brewer, earning himself a brace and extending United's lead to three.

Our no.10 gained a whopping 50 per cent of our vote, with Alejandro Garnacho – who was a constant threat throughout - attracting 26 per cent.

Garnacho started on the left for United and was a livewire from start to finish, beating Charlton left-back Sean Clare on a handful of occasions.

The 18-year-old struck two early efforts narrowly wide and went close again in the second half, cutting inside on the counter-attack and bending a fierce effort which had to be saved well by Maynard-Brewer.

Third-placed on in our poll was Antony, who attracted six per cent of the vote, following his trademark opening goal.

The Brazilian cut inside from the right and wrapped his left foot around the ball to curl his effort beyond the grasp of the Charlton ‘keeper and into the back of the net.

Antony set United on the way to victory, and rewarded Ten Hag’s side for the relentless early pressure.

Congratulations, Marcus!
