Revealed: Our Player of the Match v Everton

Manchester United Women left it late to secure a huge three points in the WSL on Saturday, after Melvine Malard headed home an injury-time winner in our 2-1 success v Everton.

It had looked like the Toffees were set for a point when Inma Gabarro headed home Melissa Lawley's cross in the final minute of normal time, only for their to be another late twist.

Fridolina Rolfo's pinpoint cross found the head of our enigmatic no.9, who powered her header past Courtney Brosnan, sparking wild scenes in the process.

It's a result that took Mark Skinner's side back into second in the WSL table, following Chelsea's 1-1 draw with London City Lionesses.

Following the thriller in Leigh, we asked you, the fans, to vote for a Player of the Match and we must admit, it was a tightly-contested poll...

But emerging on top spot with 39 per cent of the votes was of course match-winner Malard, edging out Jess Park in second by nine per cent.

Mel's header was extremely well received by both those in attendance and on the home bench at the Progress With Unity Stadium, as you can rightly imagine.

That's now nine for the season for our French forward and given how it shaped the WSL table come full-time, it was probably her biggest yet.

Park's contributions were as impactful as ever, teeing up Terland for the opener after 38 minutes, as her right-footed cross was steered into the net by our Norwegian forward.

That's now five assists for the campaign for Jess, all five of which have also come in the WSL, adding to her nine goals in all competitions.

In third place was Teri after scoring yet another superb goal for the Reds, starting our contest with the Toffees in the best way possible.

And finally came Rolfo in fourth with 15 per cent of the voting, and without her cross, Mel wouldn't have been able to steer home the wonderful winner.

But congratulations on this occasion go to Malard, as she continues to etch herself into United folklore with each passing week.

A big goal and a deserved Player of the Match prize to go with it!
