Sesko to star at Fulham?

Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo were the new arrivals who caught the eye during our opening-day defeat at Arsenal.

The pair took the game to the Gunners and were unfortunate to be on the losing side.

But Benjamin Sesko also impressed observers with his contribution from the bench, having replaced Mason Mount for the final half-hour at Old Trafford.

The Slovenian's showing was picked up on by Mikael Silvestre, the former United defender and occasional MUTV pundit, who spoke with club media a couple of days after the game.

Mikael emphasised the need to stretch the opposition defenders and was also asked about comparisons between Sesko and his idol, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“If that's his idol and the model, it's not a bad one [to have],” Silvestre said.

“Sesko is big – not just in terms of height, but he’s also powerful and strong – but still being able to stretch the defence and run in behind is key, so yeah, I was impressed.

“Even if he wasn't there for a long time on the pitch, you could still see his movement, it was very clever.

“I'm already sure he will add a lot to United this season.”

Sesko was also lauded by head coach Ruben Amorim last week, with the Portuguese saying his new striker has an obsessive football brain and is always asking good questions.

The 22-year-old has already made an impression then, since joining from RB Leipzig just under a fortnight ago, but will he be given the nod by Amorim to start in our next game, away at Fulham on Sunday?

Lean, mean, Slovene machine!

He is already proving a popular choice for players of our United Predictions game.

Early data indicates that over 30 per cent of users have selected Sesko to be the first scorer against Marco Silva's side, with only Cunha garnering a higher number of votes.

Cunha is one of three Reds who place above Sesko in the Man of the Match voting, along with Bruno Fernandes - always a sensible pick in this regard - and Mbeumo.

For now, Fulham 0 United 2 is the most popular scoreline chosen by supporters - and if that turns out to be true and Sesko starts, there must surely be a good chance of him registering for the first time in English football.

Ruben: Sesko is football obsessed!

Ultimately, whether or not our no.30 makes his full debut is up to Amorim, who will confirm his selection at 15:15 BST on Sunday, 75 minutes before kick-off.

But Ruben could provide a clue as to his XI when he sits down in front of the media for his Friday press conference.
