Your United Pic: Old Trafford goals

Your United Pic launches today, as we ask Manchester United supporters to help the club showcase its glorious history, by voting for a set of iconic images to be displayed on the East Stand forecourt.

We kick off with an Old Trafford goals theme and, although thousands of photographs have been taken of United players scoring at the Theatre of Dreams over the years, the selection has been narrowed down to eight iconic images.

Below, you can read a scene-setting sentence or two about each nomination and then find out how to vote and learn how you could win a cool prize.

ROBIN VAN PERSIE V ASTON VILLA, 2013

The ball's still in shot - just - although Villa defender Ron Vlaar is still processing what's happened, with van Persie having launched an unstoppable volley towards goal on the night his hat-trick secured our 20th title.

WAYNE ROONEY V MAN CITY, 2011

Another perfectly-timed photo, capturing Rooney just as boot comes into contact with ball for his extraordinary overhead kick in the 2010/11 home derby.

SCOTT MCTOMINAY V MAN CITY, 2020

Our midfielder slides on his knees and screams to the heavens after netting a late derby clincher. Further poignancy was added later, with the COVID-19 pandemic meaning this game was the last played in front of our home fans for over a year.

STEVE BRUCE V SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY, 1993

Surrounded by blue-and-white-striped shirts, the legendary centre-back runs away arms outstretched, knowing he's just scored the most important goal of his career to keep United on track for a first title in 26 years.

ERIC CANTONA V SUNDERLAND, 1996

The connoisseur's choice? The fifth goal in a 5-0 win may not have provoked the most primal of emotions, but Eric's delicate dink to fox compatriot Lionel Perez still lingers in the memory as one of Old Trafford's craftiest finishes.

ANDY COLE V TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR, 1999

Goal king Cole runs away from strike partner Dwight Yorke, to the backdrop of bedlam in the stands, after netting the winner which clinched the first leg of the Treble in 1999.

MARCUS RASHFORD V LIVERPOOL, 2018

Rashford scored twice to see off Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool on a euphoric day in M16 and this shot perfectly captures the poise and power of his first strike, which the Merseysiders' goalkeeper Loris Karius had no chance of stopping.

GEORGE BEST V REAL MADRID, 1968

Bestie was one of Old Trafford's most-loved players and no list of iconic snaps from the stadium is complete without the photogenic Irishman. We've plumped for his winner against Real Madrid in the 1968 European Cup semi-final - legendary.
