15 Reds fly to USA ahead of Wrexham friendly

Manchester United have flown another 15 players to the United States, in preparation for the friendly with Wrexham.

The San Diego showdown with the Welsh side, co-owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, kicks off at 03:30 BST on Wednesday.

The intention was always for it to be a youthful Reds line-up, with a game to come on the following day, against Real Madrid, hence it will be unusual to have such exposure to a senior match but it should provide valuable experience to those involved.

Of course, there is still much development in the pipeline for the youngsters but some 32 Academy players supported first-team training last season, and this can be viewed as another step in the learning process.

United, who will be wearing our new second strip for the first time, have added Jonny Evans to the party, as planned.

The Northern Ireland international has signed a short-term deal with his former club, after leaving Leicester City, and will provide quality and experience at the heart of the defence, with Erik ten Hag suggesting he will definitely feature during his pre-match press conference.

Several other players who were on duty in Edinburgh, in the 1-0 win over Lyon, have also travelled, while there are likely to be opportunities for other Under-21s prospects to impress when the line-up is named.
