Internationals: When are our stars in action?

Wednesday 05 September 2018 02:00

It's time for the first international break of the season. After a memorable World Cup, United's players are again representing their various national sides in competitive fixtures and friendlies.

All of the European nations will be competing in the newly created UEFA Nations League, which will take place between now and November, while the non-European squads will be competing in their own respective friendlies and qualifiers.

ARGENTINA: Fit-again Sergio Romero will be United's sole representative from Argentina, as Marcos Rojo continues to be hampered with a knock that the defender suffered during the World Cup. The South American nation will contest their two friendlies in the United States as they face Guatemala in California before travelling east to face Colombia in New Jersey.

BELGIUM: Marouane Fellaini and Romelu Lukaku were initially selected for the Belgium squad by Roberto Martinez, but the Red Devils later tweeted that Fellaini had been ruled out of their two away games, against Scotland in a friendly and Iceland in the Nations League.

BRAZIL: New United arrival Fred has been called up for Brazil alongside Andreas Pereira. The five-time World Cup winners will face the USA and El Salvador in two friendlies.

ENGLAND: Luke Shaw's impressive start to the season with the Reds has earned him a recall to the England squad by Gareth Southgate. It's the first time Shaw has been selected by the Three Lions since 2017 and the defender link up with United team-mates Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford. England begin their Nations League campaign against Spain at Wembley before hosting Switzerland at the King Power Stadium in a friendly.
