October half-term like never before

Okay, so half-term is officially upon us. While in a normal school year, the holidays are a time of enjoying rare and precious quality time together, rainy road trips to the coast and spending hours in the park till it goes dark or someone starts crying, this year is different.

There’s a good chance you have paced every square inch of your local park in one lockdown or another, and your normal relaxed family time at home started to lose its shine around the period that home schooling and working from home collided with a bang. Don’t worry. We’ve got you.

How about if we told you that we’ve got the perfect day out for you, one that will work for everyone in the family, even the teenagers who’s worst nightmare is ‘a family day out’? We’ve got exactly that at Old Trafford this half-term at the Museum & Stadium Tour, so run, don’t walk, and book online.

Learn about why Bryan Robson was rightly dubbed 'Captain Marvel'.

Where do we begin? Well, how about with one of the greatest players ever to wear the no. 7 shirt? We recently celebrated the opening of a brand new exhibition, charting the career of club legend Bryan Robson, 40 years since he signed for the club from West Brom and went on to become one of our most respected leaders.

Bring the family along and find out how Captain Marvel gained that nickname, and pick up a free activity booklet so they can create their own superhero designed for life in the league. Once they’ve dreamed up the perfect player and their superpowers, they can make a superhero badge to take away, too. You can also keep them engaged with a specially designed super scavenger hunt and see if they can find everything on the list.

If that sparked their interest in Captain Marvel, try one of our free 10-minute talks on the man himself, and find out more about what makes him such a legend. There are plenty of other talks too, to interest your entire group, from famous no.7s - looking at the likes of Beckham to Best, to teamwork and injury to get an insight into life as a player. Save money when you book online, so get your digital tickets quick sharp.

If you need something more *active* for your crew, we’re running daily football skills sessions on a dedicated astroturf pitch at Old Trafford with a qualified coach, to help kids up their game and learn some skills to take back home with them and impress their mates. The sessions are free to take part in, just make sure they’ve got trainers on and appropriate clothing, especially if it rains.

All of this half-term goodness is included with your normal Stadium Tour entry price, so get your tickets at tickets.manutd.com. Trust us, you'll be glad you did.

If you need a break after all that action, don’t forget the Red Cafe is open from 09:00 - 16:00 for everything from a light bite to a delicious meal, with a kids' menu on hand for those with smaller appetites.

Sit back and relax with a brew while the kids tuck into an ice-cream or enjoy a game of table-football, safe in the knowledge that you’ve smashed this half-term, even if they don’t get dressed out of their PJs the next day.

You can't win 'em all.
