Academy players expressing their creativity
The Manchester United Academy players have been busy at home, maintaining their training regimes during the coronavirus pandemic.
Head of Academy Nick Cox has co-ordinated the work for all age-groups, with the Under-23s and Under-18s mirroring the first-team’s home training programmes.
The older Academy players are holding one-on-one meetings to review their progress and embarking on physical work and technical development. They are also able to access additional online academic qualifications, away from the football.
However, the Academy, pre-Academy and emerging talent groups are taking a different approach to home training. The youngsters are being encouraged to lead their own learning by using their initiative and imagination when putting on their own individual sessions in their home or garden.

Our videos of the Academy boys showing their creativity...
"We’ve tried to avoid overly prescriptive homework programmes at such a difficult time for everyone, instead we have sent the boys a series of challenges designed to inspire the players whilst encouraging them to take onwership of their own learning," explained Cox.
“It’s amazing what can be achieved by young people when adults take themselves out of the equation and allow them to get creative and show expression.
The schoolboys took up the challenge and sent us some of their videos, a selection of which you can watch below.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Michel Carrick and Ryan Giggs are addressing the boys in webinar interviews and the boys are all being asked to supply questions for the United legends.
The Academy is also keeping in regular contact with its players and their families during this testing time and providing support on all levels.
