adidas unveils new Champions League ball
Manchester United’s official kit supplier, adidas, has unveiled a new matchball for the knockout stages of the 2025/26 UEFA Women’s Champions League.
United have been training with the new design at Carrington and will use it for the first time competitively in Thursday’s knockout play-off tie, away to Atletico Madrid.
The football features the traditional star shapes of a Champions League ball in crisp white, surrounded by a fiery red shade and silver metallic elements.
Paying homage to Oslo, the design celebrates Nordic heritage, collective strength and the modern evolution of the women’s game.
It draws inspiration from Nordic Shield Maidens - legendary female warriors who embodied strength, courage, and independence - and the concept of “Skjaldborg”, the shield wall used during battle, symbolising unity, resilience and interconnection.
The silver metallic elements evoke protective shields and interlocking amour, reinforcing the theme of collective strength, while detailed silver graphics etched into the red blocking reference Nordic carvings.
Tiger motifs – a nod to Oslo’s nickname “Tigerstaden” – are also integrated into the striking look.
Engineered for elite performance, the ball uses adidas’s thermally bonded, seamless construction to provide precision, consistency and control in all match conditions.
Its textured surface enhances grip and touch, supporting the technical qualities of United’s squad and other players across the elite competition.
The ball is available to buy now from adidas stores, selected retailers and online at adidas.co.uk.
