Garnacho reacts to his wondergoal

Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho admitted he ''couldn't believe'' that his acrobatic effort found the back of net against Everton, as the Reds romped to a 3-0 victory over the Toffees in the Premier League.

With just a mere three minutes on the clock at Goodison Park, Alejandro leapt into the air to connect with Diogo Dalot's cross, looping his effort over Jordan Pickford to open the scoring.

Drawing instant similarities with Wayne Rooney's speculative strike against Manchester City back in 2011, further goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial added further gloss to the victory on Merseyside, as we climbed into sixth position in the table.

Speaking to Sky Sports following his wonderful goal against the Toffees, Garnacho recapped the moment, insisted he himself did not see the ball hit the net.

“I can't believe it to be honest,” he began.

“I just did [it] and I didn't see how I scored, I just listened around.

“I said: 'Oh my god', and for me, of course, it was one of the best goals I have ever scored. I am very happy.”
Netting only his second goal of the season, many will remember Alejandro's solo efforts during our Under-18s FA Youth Cup success back in 2022, with the 19-year-old capable of such moments of brilliance.

Asked how his goal stands up against Rooney's strike against City, the United Academy graduate gave a typically honest answer when further asked about it by MUTV.

An extraordinary goal by Alejandro Garnacho leads to a valuable away win for Erik ten Hag's side.

“I say it is very much like [Wayne] Rooney's goal, I dont know which one is better,” he added. “Both are incredible goals.”

“It was a very important win and we need this [win] to be in the top six. We need this win, three goals and a clean sheets. It is very important.”

“It is a very important win and we must be ready in the Champions League against Galatasaray. We must win. Then at the weekend, we need another win to be in and around the top four.”
