Russo named November Fans’ Player of the Month
Manchester United striker Alessia Russo has been named the Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Month for November, following a month in which she scored two goals in two appearances.
November was always going to be a defining month for the Reds, and the start we had made to the 2022/23 season, as Marc Skinner’s side faced two tough tests, against Arsenal and Chelsea.
Chelsea, the current WSL holders, hosted United at the beginning of the month and while the Blues emerged victorious on that occasion, winning 3-1, Russo got the goal for the Reds and caused all sorted of problems for their defence.

Thirteen days later, United travelled to the capital once more to face another of our title rivals, Arsenal.
At the time, the Gunners were unbeaten in the table, with our own perfect run having been halted in that match against Chelsea.
Russo made the difference in the dying moments at the Emirates Stadium, emphatically heading into the back of the net in added time to seal a crucial 3-2 win for Skinner’s side.
Alessia was nominated for the November award, which was open for voting on 90min.com, alongside Brighton’s Danielle Carter, Aston Villa’s Rachel Daly, Man City’s Khadija Shaw, former Red Lauren James, and her Chelsea team-mate Sam Kerr.
But following what was a crucial month for United Women and Russo, our no.23 won the fan vote and was named the Player of the Month for November.
