Manchester United will be without Alex Telles and Fred for the trip to Burnley on Tuesday.

The Brazilian pair have tested positive for COVID-19, meaning they now have to isolate, in line with Government guidelines.

Telles missed Friday’s home game with Middlesbrough in the Emirates FA Cup, with it emerging he returned a positive test prior to the game.

His compatriot Fred, who came on as a substitute against the Teessiders, has now also tested positive and he could also be a doubt for Saturday’s game with Southampton at Old Trafford as a result.

The interim manager confirms a double boost for the squad ahead of the Turf Moor trip.

“Yeah we have two players missing,” Ralf told club media as part of his exclusive pre-match interview.

“Alex Telles already missed the cup game because he tested COVID positive last week and, unfortunately, the same thing happened today with Fred. That’s why he will be missing from tomorrow’s game and possibly even the game against Southampton.”

Earlier on Monday, Rangnick confirmed that Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani and Raphael Varane would all be available to face the Clarets.

Paul Pogba is also fit again, of course, with the France midfielder having played 82 minutes on his return to action on Friday.

“Those things happen and that’s why it’s even more important to have a player like Paul Pogba now available again,” the interim manager added on the absence of Fred in the engine room.

Kick-off at Turf Moor is at 20:00 GMT tomorrow (Tuesday).
