Manchester United defender Alex Telles is on course for a first-team return.

The Brazilian suffered an ankle injury during the pre-season campaign but had vowed to come back stronger from the setback.

After a period of rehabilitation, he is back in training at Carrington and keen to make himself available to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with the Carabao Cup third-round tie against West Ham United currently occupying the manager's thoughts.

"I feel good," he told club media. "Things happen in football. I wasn't very happy about that [the injury] but I took advantage of the situation by working harder.

"I feel better than before, I feel better prepared and stronger, physically and mentally. I'm much better and I'm thrilled to be back.

"Whenever I get the chance to play, I'll give everything for Manchester United to win the lot."

As United are facing the Hammers twice in quick succession, the opposition will certainly be familiar to the Reds on Wednesday night.

"Preparations will be the same," added Telles. "It's in front of our home fans at Old Trafford but I think the game will be very tough. It'll be a difficult match but we're ready.

"After the game at West Ham, I feel we're better prepared and, of course, we want to win and play as well as we can to get through."

The former Porto full-back made nine league appearances in his maiden season in England, plus another 14 in other competitions.
