Loan Watch: Axel stars in Villa victory
Manchester United centre-back Axel Tuanzebe played the full match for Aston Villa as they beat Everton at the weekend.
Our young defender is really finding his feet at Villa Park again, after completing his third consecutive Premier League match for the Midlands club on Saturday.
Tuanzebe put in another solid display, partnering Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa in a back-three formation as Dean Smith's side kept a clean sheet and clinched a highly impressive 3-0 win over Everton in the Premier League.
If we include the Carabao Cup tie against Barrow as well, Tuanzebe has completed the full 90 minutes in four straight matches for Villa, only losing once.
Brandon Williams once again played the whole game for Norwich City, who lost 3-1 to Watford at Carrow Road on Saturday. Our full-back started his third match in a row for the Canaries and put in some impressive tackles but could not prevent another defeat for the league’s bottom side.
Andreas Pereira started his first league match for Flamengo since his loan move back to his native Brazil. The 25-year-old played the full 90 minutes in a central midfield role as the Rio-based side fell to a 1-0 defeat to Gremio in the Brazilian Serie A.
Ethan Laird starred for Swansea City in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Luton Town, providing the all-important assist for the Welsh club's injury-time equaliser in the Championship side.
The Swans were three goals behind going into the break but a stellar second-half performance and ultimately a Joel Piroe goal from Laird’s cross secured an away point.
"Not the result we wanted but great character from the boys to bring it back. Happy to get an assist," the United youngster commented on Instagram.
Looking at our skilful wingers, Facundo Pellistri made a substitute appearance for Alaves in La Liga on Saturday. The Uruguayan winger came on during the interval on Saturday but his side lost 2-0 to Osasuna.
Tahith Chong played the full 90 minutes for Birmingham City in their 3-0 defeat to Peterborough on Saturday. The Dutchman played the match on the left wing and gained more valuable experience with the Championship club, as he made his sixth consecutive appearance.
In terms of midfielders, James Garner played the entire match as Nottingham Forest clinched three very important points in the Championship with a 2-0 away win at Huddersfield Town.
Meanwhile, Dylan Levitt was subbed on for Dundee United in their 1-0 win over city rivals Dundee. The Wales international came on as a half-time substitute at Tannadice Park and impressed in his defensive midfield role for the Scottish Premiership side.
Di’Shon Bernard, Ethan Galbraith and Nathan Bishop all started for their respective clubs in a weekend when plenty of our loanees got minutes under their belt. Bernard played at centre-back as Hull City lost 3-1 at home to Sheffield United, Galbraith helped Doncaster Rovers to beat Morecambe 1-0 and Bishop was in goal for Mansfield Town as they were held 1-1 by their visitors Rochdale.
