Manchester United defender Alex Telles has vowed to come back stronger after picking up an ankle injury in training that looks set to rule him out at the start of the season.

The Brazil international missed the friendly against QPR at the weekend, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealing the left-back faces a spell on the sidelines.

After going very close to getting on the scoresheet in the previous warm-up game with Derby County, with a deflected free-kick, it is frustrating timing as the boss told us he expected to be without the South American for "a few weeks".

Posting on Instagram, Telles said: "Nothing happens by chance, nothing comes to bring us down, but to make us evolve and mature. Thanks for everyone's messages. 🙌🏻

“You can be sure that I'll come back stronger and even more focused. The change in me will be big. Wait for it. 🔥♥️🎯🙏🏽"

The Brazilian looks set to miss the upcoming friendlies with Brentford (Wednesday), Preston North End (Saturday) and Everton (7 August), and also potentially the start of the Premier League campaign, with the Reds kicking off against Leeds United on 14 August.

After regular left-back Luke Shaw revealed he suffered a rib injury during Euro 2020, it will be hoped the England defender is fighting fit for the Leeds opener following an outstanding tournament with the national team.

Tickets for the Everton game at Old Trafford on 7 August are still available.
