All the key stats ahead of West Brom v United

Saturday 13 February 2021 17:00

Manchester United's trip to The Hawthorns to meet West Brom gives us the chance to look at some of the key stats before the action gets under way on Sunday in the 14:00 GMT kick-off.

HAPPY HUNTING GROUND

United have won nine of the 12 Premier League games at The Hawthorns, drawing two and losing only once. The Baggies conceded at least twice in 11 of those 12 defeats. Of course, Albion's home turf was the setting for Sir Alex Ferguson's last-ever game as manager, with the two teams sharing 10 goals - the only time our former boss had ever overseen a 5-5 scoreline in his lengthy career.

OBDURATE ALBION

United have only scored seven goals in our last eight meetings with West Brom. We have failed to score in four of those matches and, last time out, it took a Bruno Fernandes penalty to decide the contest at Old Trafford earlier this season.

FIFTY-UP?

A goal for the Reds would make it 50 in the Premier League in 2020/21, which would mean us hitting that mark in 24 games or fewer for the first time since Sir Alex's reign. We managed it in 20 games in 2012/13, en route to winning the title.

RESILIENT ON THE ROAD

As you probably already know, we are on our longest unbeaten away league run in top-flight history. The 18-game stretch has only been bettered six times, most recently by Liverpool between January 2019 and February 2020. The Merseysiders were the last home side to beat us in the Premier League, over a year ago.

IN-FORM EDINSON

Edinson Cavani will be keen to score in a third consecutive league game - the last time he managed it was in January 2019, during his successful time with Paris Saint-Germain.

FABULOUS FERNANDES

Bruno Fernandes continues to rack up the stats for his goal involvements. The brilliant midfielder averages a goal or assist once every 84 minutes in the division. This is the best ratio of the 1,685 players with at least five goal involvements in the competition's entire history.
