COVID-19 certification: All your questions answered

Monday 06 September 2021 18:00

The Government has indicated that COVID certification checks are likely to be mandatory for those attending large events from 1 October 2021.

Fans coming to any matches at Old Trafford, starting with the Newcastle United game on 11 September, should be ready to have their COVID status checked with spot checks taking place.

Will you get in if you do not have a COVID Pass?
For now, fans who do not have the correct certification will still be permitted entry unless of course they have tested positive for COVID-19.
This may change in the future.
However, we strongly encourage all fans over 18 years old to be prepared to prove their COVID-19 status at all matches at Old Trafford.

Why are we doing this?
The government has indicated that mandatory COVID-19 checks will be introduced from 1 October. The Premier League and its clubs are obliged to follow this national government guidance to ensure that all supporters can attend matches safely and to try to avoid further capacity restrictions in future.

Are children exempt?
Yes. Individuals under 18 are not required to demonstrate their COVID status but we encourage under 18s to have an up-to-date lateral flow test before attending a match.

Can you be exempt for other reasons?
There will be a small number of exemptions for fans who have a medical reason which means they cannot vaccinate or test. Those fans will be required to self-declare their medical exemption directly with club staff. Government guidelines apply.
