The goalkeeper becomes the first Turkish player to represent the Reds.

Bayindir spent his formative years in the youth systems of Bursaspor, Arabayatagispor, Bursa Yolspor and Ankaragucu, before making his senior debut for the latter club.

The goalkeeper helped Ankaragucu achieve consecutive promotions in the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons, as they reached the Super Lig, and made his Turkish top-tier debut in November 2018.

Having represented Turkey at under-17 and under-19 level, Altay was selected to play for his nation's Under-20s at the Toulon Tournament in 2018.

Bayindir made 17 appearances in his first-ever Super Lig campaign - keeping five clean sheets - and drew the interest of Turkish giants Fenerbahce. He completed a subsequent switch to the Istanbul-based club in July 2019.

One month later, Altay made his full debut for Fenerbahce, as the Turkish heavyweights swept aside Gazisehir Gaziantep FK 5-0.

In his first season in Istanbul, Bayindir played 32 times in the league and kept five clean sheets, doubling his shutout tally in 33 matches the following year.

His impressive form for Fenerbahce did not go unnoticed by Turkey, who called him up for UEFA Nations League qualifiers against Hungary and Russia in November 2020. It wasn't until seven months later, however, that the goalkeeper made his senior debut for his country, playing in a 2-1 friendly win over Azerbaijan in May 2021.

Having caught the attention of Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag and co, Bayindir became the Reds' fourth signing of the summer 2023 window today (1 September), putting pen to paper on a deal until at least 2027.
