Manchester United left-back Alvaro Fernandez has completed a season-long loan move to La Liga side Granada CF.

Fernandez, 20, spent last season on loan in the Championship with Preston North End, developing greatly, and will now look to do the same back in his native Spain.

Alvaro was part of the first team's pre-season preparations this summer and started against Leeds, Lyon, Wrexham and Athletic Bilbao. He provided the assist for Marc Jurado's goal against Wrexham in San Diego.

Fernandez was also among the substitutes in Sunday's 3-2 comeback victory over Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford.

Last term, Fernandez made a total of 42 appearances across all competitions for PNE, contributing six assists as he impressed in his first season in senior football.

Prior to this, Alvaro had been named our Denzil Haroun Reserve Team Player of the Year for 2021/22.

Having arrived from Real Madrid's youth system in 2020, Fernandez has played regularly for United's Academy sides over the years, and also has two appearances for Spain's Under-19s.

The youngster has played 62 times for the Reds' Under-18s and Under-21s, contributing seven goals and 13 assists.

Fernandez's season-long move to Granada is an opportunity for the Spaniard to gain further experience in senior football and continue to develop both on and off the pitch.

Good luck, Alvaro. We will be monitoring your progress closely.
