Amad's stance on his best position
Amad has revealed what he has told Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim about his position within the new man's tactical system.
The Ivory Coast international has set up three goals in two Premier League games under Amorim, performing superbly in a right-sided wing-back role and earning praise from the boss for his efforts, application and adaptability.
In an exclusive lead interview for the upcoming edition of Inside United, the club's official magazine, Amad disclosed that he has told Ruben that he would even play in goal, just as long as he is in the side!
"You can’t be focused only in one position," Amad told us during his interview at Old Trafford. "Sometimes you can play as a defender, sometimes you can play as a striker.
"Wherever the manager puts me, I’m ready to fight for the team. I have no problem to play just as the right winger or no. 10, I can play everywhere. Like I said to the manager, if you need me as a keeper, I’m ready to do my best!"
Amad has shown his qualities in an inverted no.10-type role previously, particularly during his successful loan spell at Sunderland in the Championship, but has brought real energy and desire to the wing-back role in the new formation.
Such versatility is viewed as a real asset by Amorim, who has stressed that positions within his system change, in and out of possession.
"He was really good defensively, and really good attacking, so he has to continue to play like that," the head coach said after the 4-0 win over Everton. "You could feel at the end of the game, he was really tired, so we also have to manage that, to increase his physical ability."
Amad will hope to have recovered sufficiently from his exertions in order to face Arsenal in Wednesday night's game at the Emirates Stadium.
Look out for the full extended interview with Amad in January's Inside United, out from 10 December.
