Amad receives first international call-up

Manchester United youngster Amad has received a maiden international call-up for Ivory Coast.

The teenager is settling in well at Old Trafford and scored his first senior goal for the club in the Europa League tie against AC Milan at the Theatre of Dreams.

He came off the bench in the Emirates FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Leicester City on Sunday and is developing nicely under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Abidjan-born winger is reportedly also eligible to represent Italy and Guinea but has opted to play for the country of his birth.

Coach Patrice Beaumelle has named Amad in a 30-man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with Eric Bailly also included. We can confirm the centre-back is to travel to link up with the group.

Ivory Coast face an away game to Niger on Friday before hosting Ethiopia next Tuesday.

The Elephants are currently leading Group K ahead of second-placed Madagascar, with the tournament due to be held in Cameroon early next year.
