Onana leads Alisson and Raya in Golden Glove race
Andre Onana will finish this weekend as the leader in the race for the Premier League's Golden Glove award.
The Cameroonian kept his fourth clean sheet of the 2024/25 season at Villa Park on Sunday, with a faultless display behind a shifting back four in United's goalless draw.
It was a performance that extended the 28-year-old's solid start to the season, and follows swiftly on from confirmation that Onana had been named as the club's Player of the Month for September.
After the Villa game, Onana leads Liverpool's Alisson Becker and Arsenal's David Raya (both three) when it comes to clean sheets, with four further goalkeepers on two.
September's Player and Goal of the Month winners
ArticleAndre Onana and Christian Eriksen have been recognised by supporters in our latest polls.
Onana endured a challenging start to life at Old Trafford, but finished his maiden season as a United player with several strong displays in the season's final months.
And, despite some difficult results in the early weeks of this campaign, our first-choice stopper has remained a calm and composed figure at the back throughout.
Onana began with a clean sheet in our Premier League opener against Fulham, and kept two more in the league across September.
In our match at Crystal Palace – another goalless draw, as at Villa – he produced a double save for the ages to deny the Eagles a near-certain second-half winner, and was also voted Man of the Match.
Earlier in that month, he had saved a penalty in a 3-0 success at Southampton, and at a crucial point where the game was still 0-0, too.
In fact, Onana is now on a run of three consecutive clean sheets in Premier League away games – a stat that underlines his growing resilience as a United player.
Well played, Andre. Keep it up!
